Standard Shape Library

**PURPOSE**

Entry of Standard Shapes that are extrusions normally found in the AISC handbook.


**Parameters**

Properties for most common standard shapes can be found using the :ref:`AISC_Tool` in the `Tools` menu. See discussion about the AISC tool below. 

StdName MUST begin with a standard shape letter indicator: 

| C,L,2L,MC,MT,P,PX,PXX,HP,S,ST,W,WT
| These first letters are all that are used of the "StdName" to determine the shape type. 

The entered values are used to compute the shape properties, dependant on the shape type.

.. _AISC_Tool:

The AISC shapes table
---------------------
The AISC shapes table is included with the BRIDG program for easy entry of standard shapes. To use the tool:

| 1 Start a new blank line in the  StandardShapesLibrary table (use the 'green' new-record button)
| 2 Select the menu "Tools --> Open AISC filter"  to open the AISC shapes table pop-up
| 3 Select the entire row of a shape you want to copy and press "ctrl-C" on your keyboard
| 4 On your new blank line in the StandardShapesLibrary table select the "StdName" cell and then press "ctrl-V" to paste parameters.
